Had a wedding to attend, which means the obligatory gift cash in the red envelope. But the wife with her Chinese literacy was away with the kid, and it's hardly polite to hand over a blank envelope without any greetings on it. Thankfully it's easy to find these things on the Internet these days, and I could slowly copy the characters, albeit with rather shoddy penmanship.
Shamelessly ripped off from some kid's elementary school assignment, as crawled by Google. Here is a list of common greetings and phrases for cards and gifts for all occasions from weddings to birthdays to graduations to funerals. I reproduce it here because it's too useful and I couldn't trust some elementary school's temporary assignments site would keep it hosted for future reference.
